Today I officially declared a mom day. I canceled any and all plans to spend the day with our 3 year old daughter. It began with a tricycle trip to Starbucks, including hot chocolate AND a cake pop... I know...
After some bouncing around town, we arrived back home, where my girl was unloading the purse she had insisted on bringing. To my shock, a small air freshener I had NOT purchased lay on my kitchen floor. I recognized it from the shelves at the Car Wash.
I got down to her level and very calmly asked her about the air freshener and if she realized that we had not bought it. I explained how we have to ask mommy for things and then I decide if we can buy them or not. She looked at me very thoughtfully and said "I knew I didn't need it and I didn't want you to be angry so I put it in my purse." Perfect. Great. My 3 year old is a thief.
Upon telling my hubs about this, he said we should make her take it back or go in and pay for it. I can't decide if she is too young or not for the full fledged learned experience. TBD.
Overall, the take away is that one minute our kids are eating cake pops at Starbucks on their tricycle and the next they are stealing things off shelves. May day... SOS.
